# Registration & Titling After Purchase

When you buy a vehicle, the dealership handles much of the paperwork-but understanding the process keeps everything smooth.

## What Happens

**At purchase:** You sign a bill of sale, financing agreement (if applicable), and title transfer documents. Castle Chevrolet McHenry completes and submits Illinois title and registration paperwork on your behalf. **Plates & registration:** Illinois issues new plates and a registration card, usually within 1-2 weeks; temporary plates get you on the road immediately. **Out-of-state:** If you're registering in another state, we handle Illinois title transfer, then you complete your home state's registration (requirements vary by state).

## Your Role

Provide a valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and your new address. Ask our finance team if any additional documents are needed for your situation.

**Questions about your purchase?** Call **(779) 600-2956)** and our finance team will walk you through every step-no detail is too small.
