Both are instructions from the manufacturer about vehicle issues, but they're legally and operationally different-and it matters for you.

**Recalls (Mandatory)**
A recall is issued when the manufacturer discovers a safety defect that affects a broad group of vehicles. The NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) tracks all recalls publicly. Manufacturers must notify owners and fix the issue for free, no matter the vehicle's age or mileage. You're not required by law to have it done, but safety recalls should be treated as urgent.

**Technical Service Bulletins (Informational)**
A TSB is guidance for dealers on how to diagnose or fix a specific issue-usually a non-safety concern like noise, performance, or comfort. It's not mandatory, and owners aren't automatically notified. Many TSBs address quirks that may or may not affect your vehicle.

**What You Should Do**
Check for open recalls on your vehicle via NHTSA.gov (free, takes 2 minutes). If there's a recall, contact Castle Chevrolet McHenry to schedule service immediately-it's free and protects you. Our Service team can also discuss TSBs if an issue comes up.

Call (779) 600-2956 with questions or to book a recall service appointment.
